A creative director (CD) bridges the business of design and the art of design. In “form-follows-function” terms, the CD is involved in projects from concept through installation. My design process is similar whether creating iconic brand marks such as Napster, or designing sensational brand splashes, such as Verizon’s Power House at Super Bowl XLIX in 2015.Understand client’s needs

I majored in Fine Art with a concentration in Graphic Design at the University of Wisconsin. After a year at a small design agency in DC, I quit to help found an internet startup, Nascent Technologies, with the goal of opening access to email through a web interface. After 3 years of bootstrapping, venture funding, and acquiring clients we sold the company to CMGI.
I worked for few startups during the tumultuous dotcom crash and 9-11 attacks in 2000—2001. I then formed my own interactive design firm with a friend, 8Foldmedia. We successfully ran 8fold for roughly 11 years with clients including AOL, Gibson, National Park Service, and National Guard.
Since 2011 I've been working with agencies specializing in real estate and experiential marketing with clients including, Amazon, Toyota, Verizon, and Marvel.
For me it's about learning a brand's unique values and dovetailing them with a consumers passion points. If you are able to enhance the passions everyone already loves it's a win across the board.
